Our modern campus includes seminar space, tutorial rooms and lecture theatres. Students are supported by a full array of library services, including a dedicated librarian for psychology students.
We have dedicated research facilities offering state-of-the-art neuroimaging: EEG, TMS, tDCS, fNIRS, EyeLink 1000 eye-tracking and virtual reality systems.
We have equipment for biophysical recording, an extensive library of psychological assessments as well as suites for data analysis including video and audio recordings. Our dedicated audio-visual multimedia equipment enables both self and peer review for trainee skills practice sessions. We also have interview rooms so you can practice your skills in real-life situations and scenarios.
Research
Psychology at UEL was ranked equal first in the country in terms of the impact of its research, higher than Oxford and Cambridge (REF, 2014).
The Research Excellence Framework is a six-yearly national review by the Higher Education Funding Council for England. At the latest round in 2014, the School secured 100% 4* rating for Research Impact (scoring above Oxford and Cambridge Universities on this REF section of assessment). 25% of our research in the School of Psychology was recognised with the highest accolade of being "world leading" and 43% of our research is "internationally excellent". The School was one of only four in the country whose research had a ‘100 per cent impact’ at the highest level.
There are five main research groups in the School:
- Cognition and Neuroscience
- Developmental Psychology
- Drugs and Addictive Behaviours
- Health Promotion and Behaviour
- Mental Health and Social Change

Testimonial
I really liked the variety of people who were in my class - it meant I could learn from them whilst studying theory and understand how different psychological theories would impact different cultures and countries. This made it feel like a richer learning experience.Freda Cunningham MSc Occupational and Organisational Psychology , (Now working in Google)
