Explore UEL at our October Open Day

Nancy, a UEL student, stands by the campus dockside. Later, she sits outside the Royal Docks Centre for Sustainability, stands outside the Docklands Library, and sits on a bench in University Square.

Nancy:

So just don’t be scared and just do it

Hi, my name is Nancy and I’m studying Medical Physiology, passing onto my second year, and here’s how I got through Clearing.

Clearing was so much easier and simpler than I thought, but at the time I was really stressed and overwhelmed because I had no plan.

But the Clearing team was able to help me find the right course for me.

I’ve developed lots of very essential laboratory skills throughout the practicals we do throughout the years.

Just call the UEL Clearing team, they can help you and guide you with the steps you need to take with your course selection, and just explain to you what the course is like, the duration and future job opportunities.

So just don’t be scared and just do it.

You're not sacrificing anything by coming to UEL.

I'm studying Theatre Directing, and living here has allowed me to work front of house at a West End theatre. Being in that environment and meeting the people I need to meet has directly influenced my ability to network and build connections.

I think one of the most beneficial things UEL has provided in terms of career development is the Mental Wealth programme. They brought in a wide range of industry professionals to talk to us about what day-to-day life is like in the industry and helped provide valuable connections.

UEL has been a really exciting time in my life and has set me up to go beyond university. It's a great place to build a community, and the location is fantastic.

You're not sacrificing anything by coming to UEL. It offers a lot of amazing programmes and opportunities, the location is hard to beat, and the lecturers genuinely care about you. It really is a great option, and you shouldn't be worried about it.

A presenter walks along the dockside, speaking to the camera. Later they interact with groups of students in classes, followed by a brief montage of students socialising and playing sports.

Presenter: Finding somewhere new can be daunting, but you find your people quicker than you think. It can even start with the person you sit next to in your first seminar.
[The presenter walks up to a couple of students, working at computers]

Hey guys.

Students: Hi.

Presenter: Or the people you end up chatting with or debating between classes.

[The presenter, sitting at a table, turns to face two different students]

I told you guys chemistry is better than physics.

Students: No, it's not!

[The presenter is sitting by the dockside, talking over a series of clips showing students celebrating a goal and socialising]

Presenter: Joining a sports club is another great way to find people outside of your course. There are loads of ways to get involved and find a community that feels right for you.

At UEL, you can show up as yourself and find people who celebrate that.

Thinking about Clearing? Call UEL and start your next chapter with us.
