Computing is not just
about programming or designing websites but about understanding the
impact of information technology on individuals, organisations and the
wider society.
Developing this understanding along with a sound grasp of technical solutions underpins all aspects of our teaching.

Our facilities
We have dedicated laboratory facilities for engineering, computing and architecture housed in new, purpose-built labs at our Docklands Campus. These provide an ideal environment for students to test theories and master practical skills. Our facilities include:

RESEARCH
Our research work is renowned in the UK and across the world, and we have developed partnerships so we can transfer our knowledge to a range of industrial, commercial, policy-making and government departments.
As a result, our work has a major impact on IT products and
services. We’re also improving public awareness of the social, political and
financial impact of information and communication technologies.
Here’s a quick overview of some of our research:
The Secure Software Engineering Research Group covers software protection, cybersecurity, digital forensics, risk management, and distributed systems.
The Enterprise Computing Research Group covers cloud computing, data centres, energy efficiency, and systems modelling.
The Intelligent Systems Research group covers the main areas of artificial intelligence: speech, image, and video processing; big data analytics, deep learning, augmented reality, and recommender systems.
Careers
Graduates with computing degrees are highly sought after in the job market. You'll have a broad set of practical skills that are applicable to a huge amount of roles and industries; from software design and engineering, through to information security and data analysis.
We offer broad-based degrees such as BSc Computer Science and MSc Computer Science, as well as courses targeted to more specific fields, including Computing for Business and Data Science.
