Study FAQs
Why should I choose UEL over other universities?
UEL blends campus life with flexible learning opportunities, strong industry links (e.g., employer projects, guest speakers), and careers-first teaching so you graduate job-ready.
What’s the difference between undergraduate and postgraduate study?
An undergraduate is a first degree (e.g., BA/BSc) focused on core foundations; a postgraduate is more advanced study (e.g., Master’s) that deepens your expertise and often includes research or industry projects.
Can I study part-time or online?
Yes. Many of our courses offer part-time routes and distance or online options so you can fit study around work or family.
What are the entry requirements?
The entry requirements vary by course. Typically, you’ll need relevant qualifications (and for some courses, a portfolio, audition, or interview). International applicants may need to meet certain English language requirements.
Do you accept international qualifications and English tests (IELTS, etc.)?
Yes. We recognise a range of international qualifications and English tests. Check the course page for specific requirements.
How do I apply for a course?
Undergraduate home applications are usually via UCAS; postgraduate applications are typically via the UEL online application form on the course page. If you are an international student, you will need to apply directly on the course page.
When do courses start?
Most programmes start in September, with some offering additional intakes (e.g., January, May). See individual course pages for exact dates.
How much does it cost to study and how can I fund it?
Tuition fees vary by course and level. Support can include government loans (eligibility dependent), scholarships/bursaries, employer sponsorship, and instalment plans for some fees.
Are there scholarships or bursaries available?
Yes. UEL offers a range of merit- and need-based awards. Check the Scholarships and Bursaries section for criteria and deadlines.
Can I work while I study?
Many students combine part-time work with study. Careers support can help with CVs, job searches, and employer events. (International students must follow visa work rules.)
