Sustainable Development Goals
In 2015, the UN introduced 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as an urgent call for countries to enter global partnership in pursuit of prosperity for people and the planet. The SDGs highlight the importance of tackling poverty, enhancing health and education, reducing inequality, spurring growth, and addressing climate change.
As centres of research, learning and global collaboration, universities can significantly impact the 2030 Agenda. By integrating SDG learning into curricula, research, engagement and campus operations, they can help drive meaningful change.
UEL is dedicated to social justice and equity, tackling inequalities and increasing the diversity of the talent pipeline. The Vision 2028 Impact Report details our contributions to economic, environmental, and cultural change, aligning with the SDGs.
In 2023 UEL introduced the Sustainable Development Goals Steering Group with a membership drawn from teaching, engagement, research and operations to capture UEL’s engagement with SDGs, to catalyse further opportunities to enhance engagement and co-create impactful activities to progress the Goals.
