Fees
All applicants must provide fee assessment information to determine if they will be paying international tuition fees.
Undergraduate tuition fees
Average length: 3 years
For new full-time international students starting in the 2025/26 academic year: £15,560 per year.
Postgraduate tuition fees
Course fees for new postgraduate students are provided on our individual postgraduate course pages.

International students must pay a tuition fee deposit before a Confirmation of Acceptance number can be issued. The required deposit amount varies by the level of study, and details on how to pay and the specific amount can be found in your Offer Letter/Email.

Funding
Saving money on your fees
You may be eligible to apply for an international scholarship to study at the University of East London. Our International Office can provide guidance on opportunities available in your home country, the UK, or within your specific subject area.
International Scholarships
The University offers scholarships and discounts of up to £5,000 for international, self-funded students who pay full overseas fees. You can view the available scholarships and find out more by contacting the international student recruitment team at international@uel.ac.uk.
Note: this does not apply to US students applying for Federal Aid (federalaid@uel.ac.uk) or those on full external scholarships.
Early Payment Discount
You can receive a 5 per cent discount on your undergraduate or postgraduate tuition fees if you pay them in full before mid-September of your starting year.
If you are a postgraduate student starting in either September or January, you must pay your tuition in full before the date specified in your Offer Letter/Email to be eligible for the discount.
Alumni Scholarship
If you previously studied at UEL and were awarded a qualification, you may be eligible for our Alumni Scholarship, which offers up to 25 per cent off your tuition fees for subsequent courses.
To apply, you must already hold one of the following qualifications from UEL:
- undergraduate degree
- master's degree
- professional doctorate degree
- postgraduate research degree
This discount is not applicable to distance learning, post-compulsory education and training (PCET) courses, or any short courses worth less than 120 credits.
Students who progress directly from an undergraduate to a postgraduate programme at UEL with no gap year will receive a 15 per cent tuition fee discount.
The 15 per cent discount for direct progression cannot be combined with the Alumni Scholarship.
Course Specific Scholarships
For some courses such as architecture or in the field of healthcare, there are sometimes scholarships or bursaries available. Check the course details on the website to find out whether this applies to you.

Sports Scholarships
With our outstanding SportsDock facilities, UEL attracts talented young athletes with one of the most attractive high-performance sports programmes in the UK. This programme allows elite athletes to balance their academic studies with their sporting ambitions.
What we offer
The programme provides world-class facilities and comprehensive support, including:
- Non-repayable bursaries for international (non-EU) students worth up to £6,000 a year.
- Up to £1,000 worth of support services, such as free access to SportsDock, free physiotherapy, and sports massages.
- Up to £1,000 for students with a coaching qualification to cover the cost of additional sports qualifications.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the programme, you must be seeking to study for a minimum of one year and have already received an offer to study at UEL. Our sports scholars include Olympians, Paralympians, and senior international athletes who represent UEL at national and international university competitions.

We run a number of schemes which offer financial support to enrolled international students.
- The Emergency International Fund: This fund is for international students who are facing financial difficulty due to an unforeseen expense, despite having previous funding to cover their living costs.
- The International Engagement Fund: This fund is available to international students who live outside of London travel zones 1-9 due to high rental costs and need help with additional travel costs for their commute to the university or a required work placement.
- The International Progression Fund: This fund provides up to a £1,000 award to help international students cover high course-related expenses.

Funding for North Americans
UEL students may be able to access funding from the US to help pay for school related expenses in the UK.

How can international students pay their deposit and tuition fees?
The best way to pay your deposit is via Flywire. You will need to log into your applicant portal, click on 'International Checks', then 'deposit/payment'. This will take you through to Flywire, where you can make your payments.
How much are UEL tuition fees for international students?
Fees vary per course, so please check the individual course page.
What scholarships are available for international students at the University of East London?
If eligible (based on your course), it will be indicated and outlined in your Unconditional Offer letter. Scholarships range from £500 to £5,000 off the first year's tuition fees.
Does the University of East London offer bursaries or financial aid for international students?
No, UEL does not offer full funding, but international students are eligible for the offered International Scholarship.
UEL also provides several bursary schemes to support international students facing financial challenges.
Can I get a discount on my tuition fees if I pay early?
Yes. UEL offers a 5 per cent Early Payment Discount for international undergraduate and postgraduate students who pay their tuition fees in full before mid-September of the intake year (or before the deadline in your Offer Letter for January start dates).
How can I request a refund?
Go to the 'Contact Us' button in the Applicant Portal, select 'Withdraw/Decline Application', and provide the details. You can then request the refund via the portal.
