1. It is a loyalty scheme offered by UEL to its graduate students, (inclusive of students who have studied with one of UEL's Global Family Partners and study abroad students), to pursue further study whilst saving on tuition fees. This scheme is open to UK and international students studying full or part-time postgraduate courses.
2. Students who meet the criteria below will be considered under the Alumni Discount Scheme:
- Any UEL undergraduate, postgraduate who fully completes their intended degree programme will automatically be eligible for a 10% discount off a postgraduate course at UEL.
- Any UEL student who progresses directly onto a postgraduate taught or research course with no gap year between their studies will automatically be eligible to receive a 15% discount off tuition fees.
3. For direct progression graduates achieving First-Class Honours (1st) you will automatically be eligible to receive a 25% discount
4. For direct progression graduates achieving Upper Second Class Honours (2:1) you will automatically be eligible to receive a 20% discount.
Excludes:
- PG Cert programmes or Top-Up courses
- Online or distance learning
- Short courses
- Courses less than 120 credits
- If you progress on to a full degree programme after the completion of a short course or courses worth less than 120 credits, you will not qualify for the alumni discount.
- PG Diploma student’s returning to top up to a full master’s (60 credits), are not entitled to an alumni discount for the Master's course.
Exceptions:
- PGCE students will be eligible to receive the Alumni Discount Scheme if they progress on to an MA or MSc programme.
- PGCE students, PCET, Architecture RIBA II programmes are inclusive of the Alumni Discount Scheme.
5. There is no application necessary. The discount will be applied to your student record automatically.
6. If awarded, student will receive a discount on their tuition fees when they enrol on one of our postgraduate courses starting September 2024 or January 2025.
7. The fee waiver is only valid for the normal duration of the course, it will not be renewed or extended beyond this term to cover repeat modules.
8. If an awarded student decides to change programme, the student will be entitled to keep the discount provided that the new course and mode of study meets the eligibility criteria. All changes must be approved by the Director of Student Recruitment and Marketing.
9. If an awarded student decides to withdraw, the discount will terminate at the date of withdrawal. The discount may be reversed.
10. Once a period of study has commenced, should a discount holder suspend their studies through the proper channels, their discount is similarly suspended and will recommenced on the resumption of studies. This can be held for a maximum of one year, starting from the date of their suspension.
11. If the student’s status changes during their study, as a result of information not being provided at the point of application, and the student becomes ineligible, the University reserves the right to revoke the discount and claim back any fee waiver incorrectly made to the student.
12. The Alumni discount may not be held in conjunction with any other scholarships. If awarded, you will only be entitled to one scholarship or one bursary or an alumni discount, whichever is the highest to be deducted from your tuition fees due. Please see our Fees Policy.
13. If a student breaks the University regulations and is withdrawn from study, the discount will be immediately terminated, and no further support will be available.
14. A complaint is normally a specific concern related to a procedural error, irregularity, or maladministration in admissions procedures or policies. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the administration of your discounts, please contact us in the first instance so that an informal resolution can be sought. This may be done in writing by emailing studentfunding@uel.ac.uk.
