About us
Our research has impact both locally and globally.
Our internationally-renowned institutes, regularly carry out research across the UK and overseas. Our Reach Pregnancy programme works with Barts Health NHS Trust to improve access to antenatal care for pregnant women living in areas with high levels of poverty and high ethnic diversity.
Other key research groups in HSB include our Medicines Research Group led by Dr Mukhlesur Rahman, the Applied Sport Sciences Research Group, led by Dr Andy Galbraith, and the Infection and Immunity Research Group, led by Sally Cutler.
Research Groups
Applied Sport and Exercise Sciences Research Group (ASSRG)
The group investigates topics within sport and exercise physiology, biomechanics and psychology, along with strength and conditioning.
Infection and Immunity Research Group
Research within the Infection and Immunity Group explores the interactive role between the host immune response and pathogen thereby elucidating mechanisms that may play a role in causing disease path
Medicines Research Group (MRG)
Founded in 2007, the Medicines Research Group has grown significantly over the years with research expertise including drug discovery and development.
The Clinical Research Group
We research into the impact and alleviation of human chronic disease. We are based in the School of Health, Sport and Bioscience.
