Freedom of Information
The University of East London is a public authority under the Freedom of Information Act, 2000. Any member of the public is free to request information about the university. We shall make this information available barring exemptions that are made explicit in the Act. As part of our duty under the Act we also publish information about the university and it's functioning online in our publication scheme.

How to make a Freedom of Information request
Before making an FOI request, please visit our home page and review our publication scheme. If you do not find the information you are looking for on our website, please write to foi@uel.ac.uk. Please use this mail both for Freedom of Information (2000) and Environmental Information Regulations (2004) requests describing the information requested. You must share your real name when making a request. You can also write to us by post at:

Should you choose an alternative way of filing a request please be aware that for an FOI request to be valid, it must:
- Have your real name
- Be in writing
- Have a valid correspondence address (such as an email)
- Describe the information that is requested
The University will send you an automated acknowledgement upon receipt of your request, except when the request is made by post. If you do not receive an acknowledgement, please write to us at foi@uel.ac.uk as this would mean that we have not received your request.
UEL must respond to a request within 20 working days. We do our best to make the requested information available to all requestors. However, please be aware that some information is exempt under the Act. You will be informed if an exemption applies to all or part of your request and the nature of that exemption after the university has reviewed it.
Internal Reviews
If you are dissatisfied with the way the University of East London has handled your request for information, you can request an internal review of this decision, within forty days of receiving a response, by contacting:
