Eligibility criteria

Our Accommodation Guarantee 2019/2020

The University of East London is able to guarantee Accommodation to New Home Students, who fit within the below eligibility criteria:

  • Live over 10 miles away from the Docklands Campus
  • Are 18 years old (or over)
  • Are starting their first year of studies at UEL
  • Are studying for a full academic year or longer on a full-time mode of attendance
  • Have an Unconditional Firm offer from the University
  • Apply for Accommodation and make a £250 deposit payment and a £500 advance rental payment by the deadline dates below.

The University of East London is also able to prioritise Accommodation to New EU and International students who fit within the below eligibility criteria:

  • Are 18 years old (or over)
  • Are starting their first year of studies at UEL
  • Are studying for a full academic year or longer on a full-time mode of attendance
  • Have an Unconditional Firm offer from the University
  • Apply for Accommodation and make a £250 deposit payment and a £500 advance rental payment by the deadline dates below.

The University is unable to guarantee Accommodation to returning students, however returning students that are offered a place in halls must fit within the below eligibility criteria:

  • Live over 10 miles away from the Docklands Campus
  • Are 18 years old (or over)
  • Are studying for a full academic year or longer on a full-time mode of attendance
  • Must have passed their previous year of studies and re-enrolled to the University
  • Must have no previous rent arrears or serious disciplinary
  • Apply for Accommodation and make a £500 advance rental payment subject to existing £250 deposit.

The University of East London guarantees Accommodation to Care Leavers or Students with a relevant disability who fit within the below eligibility criteria:

  • Are 18 years old (or over)
  • Are studying for a full academic year or longer on a full time mode of attendance
  • Have an Unconditional Firm offer from the University
  • Apply for Accommodation and make a £250 deposit payment and a £500 advance rental payment by the deadline dates below.
  • Provide confirmation/evidence from the local authority

Deadline dates

Deadline Dates include students making their application, their £250 deposit payment and £500 advance rent payment. Students must also satisfy the eligibility criteria relevant to them. Students that apply later than the Accommodation Guarantee Deadline are not guaranteed Accommodation.

Application Deadline – 18th August
Verified w/c – 19th August
Allocated by – 30th August

 4th Round

Apply after the 18th August – allocated based on the Allocation Policy.
 

Applications received after May 1st are not guaranteed. 

Accommodation Priority Guarantee

Deadline – 1st September
Verified w/c – 2nd September
Allocated by – 9th September

2nd Round

Apply after 1st September – allocated based on the Allocation Policy.   

Deadline - 30th April

1st round of provisional Accommodation Offers – 15th May
2nd round of provisional Accommodation Offers – 1st June

1st round of Room Allocations – 30th June
2nd round of Room Allocations – 30th July

2nd Round

Apply after 30th April - allocated based on the Allocation Policy.   

Provisional Accommodation offers do not guarantee a room, terms and conditions apply. 

Application Guarantee

Deadline – 4th September
Verified w/c – 9th September
Allocated by – 13th September

2nd Round

Apply after 4th September – allocated based on the Allocation Policy. 

This guarantee only applies to new students.

Students under 18

Unfortunately we cannot house any students under 18 years old. The preferred option in this case is for the students to live in with a local family (i.e. a Homestay) until they are 18 and then apply to move into Halls. Please contact us if this applies to you.
