Why did you choose to study at UEL?
The modules and the topics within each module attracted me to the BA in Dance: Urban Practice. UEL is a university that supports artists in thinking and creating as individuals, which was just what I was looking for.
What is your one special memory of your time at UEL?
One of my best memories was being a choreographer, music producer, and performer in our final COLL!DE Festival in 2018, alongside all the friends I had spent the last three years going through so much with (and the pub afterwards).
What have you done since graduating from UEL?
Since graduating I have been a dancer/acrobat/musician/actor for Magic Mike Live London, Magic Mike's Last Dance (Movie), Little Mix, Mariah Carey, Fergie, Jennifer Hudson, X-Factor, BGT, The Voice, This Morning, and Comic Relief.
What is your current job role? And what does it involve?
I am a professional dancer and oversee the live music in Magic Mike. I work with conservatoires and theatre companies as a music producer for shows and I also write and release my own albums.
How did UEL help you get to where you are now?
UEL allowed me to stand independently as a freelancer. My time at UEL has helped me to understand my product and USP and how to use my different skill sets in different workplaces.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Start your assessments earlier, and you will not have so many late nights.
What advice would you give to UEL current students preparing to graduate?
The world is changing; do your best to change with it. Solidify your fundamentals in whatever you do, so you only need to 'tweak the edges,’ and your skills will apply to any situation.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:
I have a stress-induced throat tick that stops me from breathing and speaking. After years of speech therapy, my proudest moment was a highly prestigious interview on national television in February 2023.
If you were to do it all again, would you still choose UEL?
Of course. Above anything else, I made incredible friendships and memories with people who became closer to me than I would ever have imagined. I would not trade that for anything.
