2023 June Alumni of the Month
Why did you choose to study at UEL?
I wanted to study abroad. When the opportunity arose for me to study for a degree in Accounting and Finance in Malaysia at a UEL partner institution, I could not refuse.
What is your one special memory of your time at UEL?
Finishing off my last exam and looking forward to graduation was my best memory.
What have you done since graduating from UEL?
For the past 11 years, I have worked in Banking, Telecoms, and Sales for local companies in Zimbabwe. I recently resigned from my job to focus on running my hospitality and farming company.
What is your current job role? And what does it involve?
I manage a start-up hospitality company. My role includes advertising my vacation rental cottage, managing bookings, and bookkeeping.
How did UEL help you get to where you are now?
I have been inspired by testimonials from other alumni who have achieved amazing things in their careers, which has spurred me on to succeed.
What advice would you give your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to cherish and embrace every opportunity in life.
What advice would you give to UEL current students preparing to graduate?
Dream bigger and trust that you can achieve anything you desire.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:
I am very resilient, and I used to dream big but never thought I could achieve the things I have.
If you were to do it all again, would you still choose UEL?
I would choose UEL every time, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
