Why did you choose to study at UEL?
The quality of staff and lectures, the friendly environment, and wonderful tutors as well as the best campus. University of East London is one of the best universities in the UK.
What is your one special memory of your time at UEL?
My poster presentation in my final year about breast cancer was dedicated to my mother, at the time a breast cancer patient, now a cancer survivor! Also my tutor Alan!
What have you done since graduating from UEL?
MSc in Human Molecular Genetics from Imperial College, University of Medicine PhD on stem cells and factors affecting their viability and absolute numbers.
What is your current job role? And what does it involve?
Director at Flow Cytometry - Research & Regenerative Medicine Department
CBB & Processing Facility Director at MedStem Services
Board on Research Ethics at the National Hellenic Research Foundation
How did UEL help you get to where you are now?
UEL has helped me open the magic window of science through the support and guidance of my professors.
What advice would you give your younger self?
To be more patient and spend more time having fun.
What advice would you give to UEL current students preparing to graduate?
To choose their tutor wisely and be open to suggestions as well as opportunities that at the time may sound weird or unnecessary. Also, find a mentor in the career they want to pursue.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know:
I like to spend time with children to introduce them to science. I find their reaction amazing and very relaxing for me and my soul.
If you were to do it all again, would you still choose UEL?
Definitely!
