Why did you choose to study at UEL?
UEL offered me the possibility to apply as a distance learning student while teaching in Slovenia. I found the quality of education offered at UEL to be very high which exceeded my expectations.
What is your one special memory of your time at UEL?
The graduation ceremony will remain one of my most precious moments, as it represents all the work, I put into achieving my life's dream. To be able to be part of such a celebration is beyond words.
What have you done since graduating from UEL?
Actually, I already taught English during my studies at UEL, but since then have contributed more professionally to international education through projects such as Erasmus,
What is your current job role? And what does it involve?
I am an English teacher at the lower secondary school level in Slovenia and also teach German, French and Italian as elective subjects. I am also involved in international collaboration and education.
How did UEL help you get to where you are now?
UEL gave me the confidence in leadership needed in the teaching profession at the national and international levels. In 2012 I was awarded the National Achievement Award for my work in education.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Don't ever give up when you know you can do something good for yourself. Education does not end with a diploma. It lasts a lifetime. So, be perseverant and keep going.
What advice would you give to UEL current students preparing to graduate?
If you've come this far, carry on even though the path may seem ever so steep. Once you get to the top you will be proud of yourself and your accomplishments.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know:
As a Taurus I'm very stubborn, but in a good way. I don't give up on things very easily. My secret ambition was to become a pop star. Today I sing in the teachers' choir - the next best thing.
If you were to do it all again, would you still choose UEL?
Definitely YES. The internet technology available to distance learning students was fantastic. We had online access to lectures and access to the UEL library. Online lessons were very well organised.
