Why did you choose to study at UEL?
Once I visited the campus I was inspired by the architecture and the amazing facilities. It felt like an exciting place to be on the Docklands campus at the start of a new chapter for UEL and my own life.
What is your one special memory of your time at UEL?
So many special moments with the amazing students and staff. Seeing Russell Brand in the student union was certainly a great night!
What have you done since graduating from UEL?
I started in the construction industry working in the new housing sector before moving to large infrastructure projects. I began working in London and now have been working in Sydney for nearly three years. I love to help shape cities for future generations.
What is your current job role? And what does it involve?
Senior Commercial Advisor for Sydney Metro; building a completely new underground railway in the city. It is one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the world. I am responsible for Central Station.
How did UEL help you get to where you are now?
I learnt so much that made me want to travel and work somewhere exciting like Sydney. My degree enabled me to complete an MSc to advance my career and gave me the discipline to become a chartered surveyor.
What advice would you give your younger self?
To believe in myself more and know that there is so much to achieve when you apply yourself! To be a good person, help others where I can and not take things for granted.
What advice would you give to UEL current students preparing to graduate?
The world is a big place and explore what you can and think outside the box when it comes to your work-life choices. There are so many possibilities. Taking risks can pay off!
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:
I used to make electronic dance music and have had my records played on Radio 1. I also performed across Europe and the UK.
If you were to do it all again, would you still choose UEL?
Yes, those memories and learnings will stay with me forever. I have so many great things to remember about my time there. I grew as a person and learned a lot about myself.
