Kids Room Photos

The Children's Garden nursery

The Children's Garden nursery is located at UEL's Docklands Campus. Our aim is that children are happy, healthy, safe, inspired and having fun.

The Children's Garden nursery is committed to ensuring that all children are happy, healthy, safe, inspired and having fun. Our professional and skilled staff work hard to ensure each child feels welcome - implementing a robust Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum to ensure all children reach their full potential.

We provide many opportunities for children to learn through play and develop their skills. Our Inclusive Learning policy is achieved by ensuring that every child attending our nursery receives appropriate support for any Special Educational Need, regardless of their background.

The Children's Garden nursery is a part of NEWTEC - a training provider specialising in Early Years and Health and Social Care.

    Curriculum

    Curriculum

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, where all children learn through a range of activities. Early Years providers follow a structure of learning, care and development for children, from birth to five years old.

Experiences in Early Years can benefit children in developing social skills and their ability to learn. Good quality childcare benefits children throughout primary school. A profile containing records of your child's progress will be kept by the nursery, and parent/carers are welcome to read this record at any time.

At the heart of EYFS is the principle that young children need to play to have fun; to make friends and begin to learn and understand about the world around them.

    Parent involvement

    Parent involvement

EYFS emphasises the importance of working closely with parents/carers to get them more involved with their child's development, both at home and at childcare.

Parents and carers are encouraged to contribute to the daily routine at the nurseries, such as story time and festivals, with our open door policy. Parents' evenings take place three times a year, along with parent groups and parent reps.

Children are observed as part of the practitioner's daily routine, children's trackers are completed to ensure that each child progresses in line with their developmental milestones.

Observations and trackers are also used to enable staff to recognise if any children are exceeding their developmental milestones, or if they need additional support.

    Healthy eating

We encourage healthy eating, with meals and snacks available throughout the day. The nurseries also provide breakfast, lunch and dinner, depending on the sessions attended.

Meals reflect all dietary requirements and preferences of children. Regular food tasting events take place to encourage parents/carers to be active in choosing the children's menu and the menus are changed regularly.

    Our nursery facilities

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, where all children learn through a range of activities.

At the heart of EYFS is the principle that young children need to play.
