Health, Sport and Bioscience

The School of Health, Sport and Bioscience is a successful provider of public health, biosciences, physiotherapy, podiatry and sports science courses. We are incredibly student-centred, which is evident through our committed and supportive teaching staff who adopt an open door policy to ensure high rates of student success.


The School of Psychology is one of the largest psychology departments in the UK and we have been teaching students for more than 50 years. Our department includes undergraduates, postgraduate and doctoral students alongside highly qualified teaching staff with an extraordinary breadth of knowledge and vast range of specialisms.

Call for Workshop Participants

Dr Mukhlesur Rahman has recently received a grant from the British Council to organise a workshop to be held in India. As part of this grant we are now recruiting 17 Early Career Researchers (ECRs) from the UK to participate in the workshop. For more information please download this PDF.


In the School of Psychology our research integrates cross disciplinary expertise from experimental, developmental, health, clinical and social psychology. Our researchers have interdisciplinary collaborations at the local, national and international levels. In the most recent 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 25% of our research in the School of Psychology was recognised with the highest accolade of being "world leading" and 43% of our research is "internationally excellent". Our research also received the highest 4.00 out of 4.00 ratings for Impact, demonstrating how the research goes beyond academia and has direct benefits to health, quality of life, public policy, and to society.
