OVERVIEW
Dr Thamo Sutharssan is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of East London, where he leads both the BEng in Aeronautical Engineering and the BSc in Railway Engineering. Previously, Thamo worked as a Lecturer at various higher education institutions, including the University of Portsmouth, Havering College, Derby College, and the Rolls-Royce Aerospace Academy. He made significant contributions to BTEC, HNC, HND, BEng, and MEng programs and participated in internal and external validation of the courses, assessments, and inspections.
Thamo also served as a Research Associate on a £177,500 Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project focused on the Balance of Plant (BoP) of Combined Heating and Power (CHP) Hydrogen Fuel Cell systems, in collaboration with Sustainable Energy Technologies at the University of Hertfordshire. In this role, he projects managed the design and production of an automated demonstrator of fuel cell systems, applicable to a variety of products including micro-CHP units.
Additionally, he served as a Research Fellow at the University of Greenwich, contributing to a collaborative project with Heriot-Watt University for Scottish and Southern Energy. Throughout his career, Thamo has gained extensive experience in project management and consultancy, successfully overseeing numerous projects related to building services and automation.
Dr Thamo Sutharssan is a Chartered Electrical and Electronic Engineer and has been a Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology since 2001. Additionally, he is a Chartered Manager with the Chartered Management Institute and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His involvement in the academic community extends to reviewing conference and journal papers for the Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) Society since 2010, and he has served as the Review Manager for their annual conferences since 2014.
