OVERVIEW
I am currently working towards my PhD by publication, which involves profiling combat athletes to identify their needs for success. Muay Thai is a sport that is growing in popularity and participation, and the studies are designed to increase performance and prevent injuries. Implementing interventions such as post-activation potentiation and Olympic lift derivatives, testing the fighter’s application to training modalities is intended to improve our understanding of the required physiology, to evolve archaic coaching practices which harbour many fight gyms, where research in this area is sparse.
My specialist area is strength & conditioning where I have been awarded the RSCC by the NSCA after demonstrating a high level of delivery with professional athletes and tactical populations.
CURRENT RESEARCH
I have been researching combat sports for a number of years, including boxing and Muay Thai. After completing a physiological profile in both boxing and Muay Thai, I am now working on future publications for strength & conditioning methodologies to improve the athletic preparation for fight readiness.
