EU Referendum debate

In a special one-off event organised by the University of East London (UEL) and Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and co-organised by the Institute of Ideas’ Debating Matters Competition, we are excited to announce a public debate on whether the UK should leave the EU, exactly one week before the referendum.

The debate sees two teams of sixth-formers battle it out using the challenging and unique Debating Matters format to discuss both sides of EU membership.

The teams will be put under additional pressure to get to the heart of the EU debate with a panel of judges and audience questions but will have an opportunity to research the motion in advance with the help of one of Debating Matters’ topic guides.

This debate is part of, and has been funded by, the ESRC UK’s ‘In A Changing Europe’ Project, and supported by Fixer, Institute of Ideas’ Debating Matters Competition and Leyton Orient Trust.
