Learning, development, leadership and technology

ElevateHer 2016, presented by the Cass School of Education and Communities, is a multi-day interdisciplinary conference concerned with the political, economic, social, cultural and technological achievements and advancement of women. This year's conference coincides with the 105th anniversary of International Women's Day. 

ElevateHer 2016 presents a full slate of speakers and activities on day four of the conference. All events are in University House 304.
 
•Keynote: Mary McKenna (Kicking Assets) - "How I took control of my destiny - my journey from payroll pawn to angel investor" (10am-10.30am; please note that seats are limited)
 
•Workshop: Dr Carrie Weston (University of East London) - "All things nice: positions and portrayals of girls/women in children’s literature" (10.30am - 11.15am)
 
•Workshop and talk: Suzanne Page (Gingerbread Membership) and Carol (Gingerbread Group Leader - Thurrock) - "Leadership for single parents through peer support" (11.15am - 12pm)
 
•Talk: Paulette Harris German - actress, presenter, producer, assistant director, single mother advocate (12pm - 12.30pm)
 
•Presentation: Amarachi Onwukwe (CEO at HealthRecharge CIC) - "Why women engage in entrepreneurship: new directions in research on women and entrepreneurship" (12.30pm  - 1pm)
 
•Interactive Talk: Chantel Miller (Chanti Media) - "Digital story telling" (please bring smartphone) (1pm - 1.30pm)
 
•Talk: Claire Hanson (Asset Management) "Women in engineering: physical asset management" (1.30pm - 2pm)
 
•Talk: Jennifer Kissi-Debrah (RMT) - "Women in the trade union movement" (2pm - 2.30pm)
 
There will also be stalls where participants can receive careers advice from the UEL Careers and Employability Team and entrepreneurship advice from the Centre of Excellence for Women's Entrepreneurship. Athena Swan will also be present..
