Global Scholars Projects 2015

Our Global Scholars programme gives you a chance to work on a social enterprise project overseas. It is part of our drive to become London’s leading university for civic engagement – giving you the chance to take your learning into the real world.

It could be anything from helping Ethiopian villagers set up businesses to improving an ecotourism lodge in Spain. You’ll develop a business plan and get the chance to travel to the host country.

Global Scholars is generously sponsored by The Noon Centre for Equality and Diversity in Business.

  • Enterprise in Ghana

We plan to set up a dairy farm and production company in Ghana, in partnership with a UK company, with the aim of selling produce to the West African market. Our students gain entrepreneurial and practical skills while Ghana, which has no dairy industry of its own, will benefit too.
  • Helping Pupils in India

Students on this project provide educational backpacks for schoolchildren in Mumbai and Hyderabad. They will write the business plan, analyse the costs, source the stationery and even design the backpacks.
  • Islamic Finance in Bahrain

Our students will explore various aspects of the Bahraini economy, from corporate governance to property development. They will pass their knowledge on by helping develop online resources on Islamic Banking and Finance for UK secondary pupils.
  • Mental Health in Morocco

This is a project designed with a lasting legacy. Our students will work with researchers and the Moroccan government to develop an effective mental health policy framework for Morocco.
