What is practice-based education?
Practice-Based Education is an innovative approach to higher education that is designed to make your learning more practical, meaningful and useful in your career journey.
Our mission is to prepare students for the careers of the future - and to ensure that future is healthier, more equitable and more sustainable. PBE is a major engine for this important ambition - giving students unique experiences and local communities access to free services that might otherwise be out of reach.
Our approach to PBE incorporates three key elements:
- Practice-Based Centres
- Future Campus
- Industry Collaboration
Practice-based centres
We have established a number of practice-based centres on our campuses that offer real services to the local community, while allowing students to gain work experience as part of their degree.
While this is a more common approach to training in fields like healthcare and education, we have extended the use of practice-based centres across nearly all of our subjects – including Sport, the Arts, Law, Business, Psychology and more.
