Green Apple Award
The University of East London
has won a Green Apple Environment Award, the annual international campaign to
recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world. The
Green Apple Environment Awards were launched in 1994 by The Green Organisation
and have become well established as one of the most popular environmental
campaigns in the world.
UEL has achieved Gold in the
University category for our year-long focus into energy efficiency in the
Arthur Edwards building on the Stratford campus. Over the past year the
building has seen physical changes such as more energy efficient windows and
lighting, as well as building occupant engagement through an energy survey,
building shutdown event and Psychology/Sustainability lecture.
UEL was presented with the award
on 12th November 2018 at the Houses of Parliament. Attending the ceremony were
Mimi Cedrone, Sustainability Projects Officer, Amy Butterworth Fernandes,
Sustainability Manager and David Bailey, Projects Manager.
