What we're researching

Our research work is renowned in the UK and across the world, and we’ve developed partnerships so we can transfer our knowledge to a range of industrial, commercial, policy-making and government departments.

As a result, our work has a major impact on IT products and services. We’re also improving public awareness of the social, political and financial impact of information and communication technologies.

Here’s a quick overview of some of our research:

Software – our Software Architecture Research Group covers cloud computing, data centres, energy efficiency, software design, documentation and evaluation and systems modelling.

Cybercrime – in our Information Security and Digital Forensics Research Group, Dr Paolo Falcarin is leading a major European Union project to improve mobile software protection.

Computing evolution - our Centre for Evolutionary Computing in Architecture explores how computing affects and shapes the world around us.

Sustainable IT – as certified Green IT trainers, Gaurav Malik and Mike Kretsis are working on a project that helps small and medium-sized businesses in London reduce their carbon footprints.
