General FAQs
How do I book to attend an open event?
Just fill out our Open Day form to book your place at our next event.
Will I receive a follow up email when registering for an event?
Yes, you will receive a confirmation email after booking your place. Your QR code ticket will be sent closer to the event date.
What will I be able to do at the open event?
Open Events provide a fantastic opportunity to find out more about finance, talk to academics and take a tour of our on-campus, waterfront accommodation.
You will get the chance to:
- ask any questions about finance to our Student Money Advice and Rights Team (SMART)
- take a guided tour of our stunning waterfront accommodation
- chat to academics and students about any questions you may have

Are there places to eat on campus?
Docklands

There are also a number of restaurants nearby
Can I bring guests?
Yes, please feel free to bring along your family and friends with you to the Open Days.
Is there parking available?
There will be parking available at our Docklands and Stratford campuses for free (limited spaces), however, there will not be parking at our University Square Stratford campus. The Water Lane campus is only a short walk away.
Is there WiFi available?
Yes, all three of our campuses have The Cloud free public Wi-Fi available. Just select The Cloud when connecting to the internet on your device and follow the instructions on screen.
Can I access student support services at the open event?
Here you'll have the opportunity to talk to numerous support services and ask questions about financing your studies, work experience opportunities, and how you can take your learning overseas.

Can I talk to someone about student finance?
Yes, our Student Money Advice and Rights Team (SMART) will be present to answer any questions you may have about student finance. There will also be a talk on Student Finance and Scholarships at our Docklands Campus and Stratford Campus.
This talk will provide an overview of the government student finance package available for students commencing an undergraduate programme in September. In addition, this talk will outline the attractive portfolio of UEL scholarships and bursaries available.
This talk is aimed at Home and EU prospective students.
Will I be able to view the on-campus accommodation?
Yes, there will be a number of guided tours taking place throughout the day at our waterfront accommodation located at the Docklands campus.
Will there be academics and current students present to speak with?
Yes, there will be staff and students on hand throughout the day to answer any questions you may have.
Will the event be livestreamed online?
No, our in-person events will be face to face only.
I can't attend, is there another opportunity to visit?
If you can't make it to our open events, don't worry! You can book a campus tour and visit us at a date and time that suits you better.
You can also check our Open Events page as more dates will be added throughout the year.

What happens on the day / activities
What will I be able to do at the Open Event?
Open Events give you the chance to:
- Attend subject talks and sessions tailored to undergraduate or postgraduate applicants
- Speak to academic staff and current students
- Tour campus, facilities and accommodation
- Get advice on applications, fees, funding, scholarships and careers support
- Learn more about student life and support services at UEL
Will there be a subject talk for my postgraduate course?
Not all postgraduate subject areas have a scheduled subject talk during Open Days.
If a subject talk for your course isn’t listed in the programme, academic staff from that subject area will still be available to speak to you one-to-one in our Meet the Academics areas. This gives you the opportunity to ask specific questions about course content, entry requirements, study modes and career outcomes.
You’ll be able to see which subject talks are scheduled when you register or when the event programme is released closer to the day.
Will the event be livestreamed online?
No, our in-person Open Events are face-to-face. However, we run other virtual sessions and events you can join online if you can’t attend in person.
Travel, campus and facilities
How do I get to the University?
You can find travel information (including public transport, parking and campus maps) on our Finding us page.
Will I be able to view on-campus accommodation?
Yes. Guided tours of accommodation are available throughout the day at our Docklands Campus). If you’re visiting one of our other campuses, you’ll be able to view accommodation via our virtual tour. Visit the Residential Life stand in the Information Zone for more information.
Is there Wi-Fi available on UEL campus?
Yes. Free public Wi-Fi is available at all UEL campuses.
Are there places to eat on campus?
Yes. Several cafes and dining options are available at Docklands, Stratford and University Square Stratford campuses.
Is there a shuttle bus between campuses?
Yes. We run a free shuttle bus service on Open Days to help visitors travel between our campuses.
The shuttle bus operates between Docklands Campus, Stratford Campus and University Square Stratford, making it easy to attend activities or speak to academics across different locations on the same day.
Shuttle bus times, pick-up points and travel guidance will be available on the day from event staff.
If you’re planning to visit more than one campus, please allow extra time for travel.
Student support services
Can I access student support services at the event?
Yes. Plenty of support teams are available on the day to answer your questions about student support, financing your studies, work experience, placements and global opportunities.
Can I talk to someone about student finance?
Yes. Our Student Money Advice and Rights (SMART) team attend Open Days and can answer finance questions. There are also talks on Student Finance and Scholarships available.
Can I talk to someone privately about support requirements and wellbeing?
Yes. Our Disability and Dyslexia Team, and Student Wellbeing Team will be available to speak to 1-1. If you would like to discuss your questions in private, they’ll be able to use the private booths.
