BSc (Hons) Construction Design Manager*
About the Course
Overview
This degree apprenticeship is delivered through the BSc (Hons) Architectural Design Technology, which is accredited by the Chartered Institute for Architectural Technology (CIAT). The course takes a practical, hands-on approach to architectural design, with apprentices working on real-life design projects as part of their studies.
There is a strong emphasis on technical studies and the use of industry-standard digital tools for computer-aided design, building design and energy performance simulation. You will develop skills using software, including:
- MicroStation
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- BIM
- DesignBuilder
Your learning is supported by world-class workshops, including facilities for digital and robotic manufacture, enabling you to explore modern methods of design and construction.
The Architectural Design Technology course provides a comprehensive understanding of architecture, alongside building engineering, building technology and construction management. The construction management elements maintain a strong technical focus, preparing apprentices to take on management roles within multidisciplinary consultancies and professional practices.

How to get involved
We take a flexible and responsive approach to delivering degree apprenticeships. We work with employers to agree on the most appropriate delivery strategy, ensuring it meets both business needs and the requirements of apprentices.
Our usual delivery model is an intensive day-release, block-mode scheme. Where appropriate, we can also consider concentrated teaching blocks over multiple days, subject to cohort size and where geographical factors make this necessary.
If you are an employer with a distinct cohort, we can customise the delivery model to suit your organisation’s needs.
We are also keen to hear from employers and providers interested in contributing to the development of apprenticeships through our Trailblazer groups, which play a key role in the initial design and development of apprenticeship standards.
Please get in touch if you:
- would like to become an employer partner of UEL and receive support in finding suitable apprentices
- are interested in apprenticeship degree courses we currently offer or those in development
- would like to explore the creation of new apprenticeships and join a Trailblazer group with us
