As part of the application process, all suitable applicants will be required to attend an interview.
Interview FAQs
What do I need to know before I arrive?
Before you arrive, make sure you are prepared for the course and the subject area.
You should:
- Review the course page. carefully, including: course content and structure, assessment methods, and learning outcomes
- Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the degree subject as a career, including: why you are interested in the field, and how the course supports your career goals
- Be ready to explain why you would be a strong candidate for the course, using examples from your skills, experience, or interests.

Can I request an alternate date?
There is a high demand for the limited number of places on this course. Because of this, requesting an alternative date does not guarantee that we can offer you one.
We understand that it is not always possible for applicants to attend their allocated date.
If you are unable to attend, we will do our best to accommodate your request where possible. However, to avoid disappointment, we strongly encourage you to attend the date you have been offered.

On arrival, please report to the Great Hall.
What should I expect on the day?
Your visit will include several activities designed to help you learn more about the course and allow us to assess your suitability.
On the day, you will:
- take part in a face-to-face interview
- attend a talk on the subject area
- have a tour of the University facilities
What we assess
During the day, we will assess:
- your communication skills
- your understanding of the profession
- your ability to contribute to group discussions
In line with the NHS values-based recruitment strategy, we also look for the behaviours and attributes expected of a healthcare professional.
How to prepare
Before attending, you must read the NHS Constitution.
Be prepared to:
- discuss and/or write about two of the six NHS values
- give examples of how you demonstrate these values in your own experience
Can I bring children?
You may bring children to the interview day, but they must be accompanied by another adult at all times.
Please note:
- UEL staff cannot look after children while your interview is taking place.
- Children must not be left unaccompanied anywhere on UEL premises.
- Children are not permitted to attend the interview with you, as this may limit open discussion about your future studies at UEL.
- Children are also not allowed in test or exam environments.
If you plan to bring children, please ensure appropriate supervision arrangements are in place for the duration of your interview.
How will I be notified of the outcome?
We will notify you of the outcome of your interview through your UCAS Hub account. You will also receive an email confirming our decision.
Due to high demand, we are unable to provide detailed individual feedback on interview outcomes.
Please note:
- We accept one application per application cycle.
- If you are unsuccessful, you may reapply in the following year.
