BA (Hons) Dance: Urban Practice auditions
BA (Hons) Dance: Urban Practice auditions
Congratulations, you have been selected to audition for a place on our BA (Hons) Dance: Urban Practice course.
Can I request an alternative date?
There is a high demand for the limited number of places on our course, and we have more applicants than we do places available. Therefore, if you request an alternative date, unfortunately there is no guarantee that we will be able to offer you one, as the subsequent dates may already be fully booked.
We do understand that it is not always possible for applicants to attend, so we will do our best to accommodate you if you do need another date but cannot guarantee this. To avoid disappointment, please do your absolute best to attend the date that you have been offered.
You can request an alternative date through the Applicant Portal - Your login instructions have been sent to you separately.
What do I need to know to bring before I arrive?
You will need to have comfortable clothing suitable for dancing in, and clean trainers which are suitable for indoor use. Please bring water to drink, and a notebook and pen in case you want to take any notes. It would be a good idea to think about and write down any questions that you’d like to ask the lecturers and/or the current students and bring those too.
All audition material will be taught, so you do not need to prepare any dance material for the audition.
I have an in-person audition. Where will the audition take place?
Our in-person auditions will be held on our Performing Arts floor at University Square Stratford (USS Building). Please report to the main reception desk when you arrive. Please note the address carefully, as there are three different campuses at UEL:
University of East London
University Square Stratford (USS)
1 Salway Road
London, E15 1NF
United Kingdom
Unfortunately, there is no parking available on site.
You will need to arrive at the USS (University Stratford Square) building reception at 1:45pm for registration. Someone will then come down to register you and show you up to the studios. The process is expected to finish by 5:00pm.
What should I expect when I arrive in-person on the day?
Time | what will happen? | location |
---|---|---|
1:45pm | Arrival and registration | USS Building Reception |
2:00pm | Practical technique and choreography workshop | USS Dance Studios |
3:45pm | Course talk with the dance team/ current students | USS Dance Studios |
4:15pm | Small group discussion task | USS Dance Studios |
4:45pm | Final Q&A and finish | USS Dance Studios |
We will be looking for:
Applicants who have an open mind and are curious to learn, study, value and explore all forms and styles of dance. Applicants who are able to follow instructions and respond to advice and feedback offered. A professional and mature approach to both practical and theoretical perspectives on dance.
Can I bring children or guests?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate children or guests for the audition process.
When will I be notified of the outcome?
We will notify you of the outcome of your interview through your UCAS Track or we will send you an email with our decision. If you receive a place, you will be required to accept/decline your place as per UCAS deadlines/the deadline in your email.
Special access or requirements
As part of its commitment to inclusive practice, the University of East London has put a number of anticipatory and reasonable adjustments in place that are available to all students, including those with learning and physical disabilities.
If you require a reasonable adjustment as part of the audition/interview selection process, please contact the Admissions Team through the 'Contact Us' option in the Applicant Portal.
We look forward to meeting you and wish you all the best of luck!
