Support available to all students
We have a wide range of resources and services available to all students. Below we have provided a list of resources available to you during your studies. These have been categorised by service, you can also follow the hyperlinks to each services page. At the end of the page there are some links to useful documents and information on free assistive technology and training.
Students who have a diagnosed disability, long-term health condition or SpLD (Dyslexia) can also book an appointment with a Disability and Dyslexia adviser to arrange their Internal Support . Appointments are bookable by calling 0208 223 4444 or emailing ddac@uel.ac.uk. We are currently offering appointments via telephone or Microsoft Teams.
Library Services
There is a wide range of accessible resources available to students both on campus and at home.
This includes access to:
- Assistive Technology on library computer:
- Read and Write Gold
- Inspiration
- Sensus Access (this is accessible on and off campus using your UEL email address to log in)
- Support on using KoreText
- Subject specific Librarian (this is currently being offered via Microsoft Teams).
- Support with accessing and finding resources. (this is currently being offered via Microsoft Teams).

Academic Tutoring
The Academic Tutoring team can help you develop your skills in academic writing, mathematics, and approach your assignments effectively. They are happy to help you to further develop the skills you need, while becoming a successful independent learner at UEL. They offer:
- My Feedback service - feedback on structure, referencing, spelling and grammar.
- Academic writing support via drop-ins
- Maths and English tutoring
- Access to information and resources via Moodle.
Wellbeing
Wellbeing provide a range of services to support your mental health and wellbeing, this includes:
- A drop-in service with a wellbeing adviser
- Counselling
- Access to Health Assured

Health Assured
UEL students also have free access to the health and wellbeing smartphone app from Health Assured, providing an enhanced set of wellbeing tools and engagement features.
SMART (Student Money, Advice and Rights)
Smart provide support for home and International students, including those with dependants and care leavers. they offer a range of support such as:
- A drop-in service
- Advice on government funding (UK and International)
- Advice on UEL scholarships and bursaries
- Advice and guidance for budgeting and money management
- Support, information, advice and guidance for care-leavers

Enabling/Assistive Technologies
UEL offer a range of free technology to support student with their studies. We also provide information on a range of technology anyone can access for free. this includes information on apps, websites and software which could help with studying.
Edu-Tech Drop-in
EduTech drop-in sessions are available to all students. These are bite-sized 1-2-1 training sessions with an expert. You can get training and advice on a range of technology to help you use technology during your studies. This can include advice and training on, how to use a range of essential programs and assistive/enabling technologies, this could include:
- General advice on technology including assistive/enabling technology.
- Making the most of Office 365.
- Advice on in-built assistive technologies such as those found in Microsoft applications.
- How to use educational software such as Mind Mapping, Text-to-Speech, Voice Recognition, Note Taking & others.
- Referencing sites and in-built application.
- Researching online
