Outstanding performance
The Royal Docks School of Business and Law (RDSBL) has achieved remarkable success in the latest National Student Survey (NSS). The survey results highlight RDSBL's outstanding performance, with several courses rated as the best in the country in specific categories and others excelling compared to all other London universities.
The NSS is an extensive survey managed by the Office for Students, covering nearly 350,000 students across the UK. It assesses a range of factors, including academic experience, teaching quality, assessments, and mental well-being services. Our Stratford library, opened at a cost of £14 million, is a state-of-the-art building which provides an inspirational environment for study and research. Overlooking the Royal Docks, our modern Docklands library is another fantastic space for learning, offering a wide range of resources as well as group and silent study facilities. You can also get extra help with your academic writing.
Our bespoke and modern campus facilities are complete with extensive 24-hour library access, ultra-modern teaching hubs, tiered lecture theatres, seminar rooms, cafes and shops. To ensure our students get the best possible support, we've opened brand-new £3.1 million Student Support Hubs. These contain centralised helpdesks as well as comfortable areas to relax and socialise. The helpdesks provide a 'one-stop-shop' for every possible need, from course-related enquiries to personal issues such as health and money matters.

Our staff
Zoe Adjey, Cluster Lead for the Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, has worked in London and internationally as a Learning & Development Manager and HR manager across a range of companies in the hospitality and tourism sector. She is also an experienced lecturer, and passionate about developing people and helping them reach their full potential within the hospitality industry.
Lynthon Musamadya, Senior Lecturer in Events Management, has built up extensive knowledge of all aspects of the Events Management industry throughout his career. His research interests include strategic, operational and quality management issues and their impact on financial and revenue performance within the events, hospitality and tourism industries, as well as bridging the gap between industry and academia.
Dr Henrik Linden is a Senior Lecturer in Tourism and Cultural Industries Management. He has worked with the Nobel Museum in Stockholm, the Swedish Institute for Children’s Books, and the Morgan Library and Museum in New York. His research interests include: fans and fan cultures, destination marketing (particularly city and nation branding), media representations, arts audiences, and cultural tourism.
Dr Damian Devlin, Lecturer in Events and Hospitality Management, has held a variety of leadership roles in the industry, covering operations, project management and implementation, sales and retention, product development, supply chain management, and purchasing compliance. His research interests have a particular focus on the relationship between aviation connectivity and place-based economic development in peripheral–remote or rural regions.
Robert Woherem is a Lecturer in Events & Leisure Management whose career has developed his expertise in teaching and leadership, especially within the sports industry. He taught in private Sports Business Schools, has been a management consultant for the charity Panathlon Challenge, and is a panel member for the London Youth Games. His research delves into Leadership in Sport, Organisational Behaviour and Culture in Sport, and Sport Event Experiences.
Dr Michael Palkowski is a researcher and lecturer at the Royal Docks School of Business and Law. He is the programme leader of the BA Tourism Management undergraduate degree and the MSc in Events and Hospitality Leadership. He received his PhD in tourism from Edinburgh Napier University under the supervision of Professor Paul Lynch and Dr Elaine Thomson in October 2020. He is currently working on a number of papers from this thesis, which are pending publication. His core research interests include sustainable development in tourism, critical hospitality studies and experimental qualitative research.
Janice Lalu is a Lecturer in Hospitality and Events Management, with 20 years of hospitality industry experience (across France, The Netherlands, the Principality of Monaco, the United Kingdom and Bermuda). Her research interests are in ethical behaviour and decision-making, and intercultural sensitivity in the hospitality industry, and she has a PhD from the University of East London!
Alexis Preyre is a Lecturer in Hospitality and Tourism Management and worked in the food and wine industry in Spain, Colombia, France and the UK before going into education. He is currently doing a PhD in Tourism, which focuses on sustainable development in post-conflict Buenaventura, Colombia.
Roberto Reid is a Lecturer in Sport Management, with a wealth of experience in both teaching & as a sports and media consultant – a role which required him to travel the world to support in facilitating huge sporting events such as the IMMAF world championship. His research interests, and PhD, are concerning a Gender Analysis of Social Inclusion and Wellbeing in Recreational and Elite Participants: investigating the role gender plays in engagement in eSports, and the effects and experiences of participation.

Henrik Linden, Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for Tourism Management, completed his PhD in Culture, Media and Creative Industries and is working on a book on Fan Cultures, Tourism and Consumerism.
