Why Choose Counselling, Communities and Social Work
Boost your graduate prospects
Our students will learn about prevalent issues facing society today, such as the effects of conflict on children and the wellbeing of migrants in London. With this experience, our graduates go on to secure roles at large organisations such as British Red Cross and NSPCC.
Benefit from accredited courses
Many of our courses are accredited by the relevant industry bodies. These include Social Work England, Tavistock and Portman Trust, National Youth Agency, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, as well as the European Mentoring and Coaching Council.
Learn from active industry professionals
Our staff are actively working in clinical practice, policy development and within professional bodies. Our lecturers are active researchers and have published many textbooks, some of which you will be reading as part of your course.
Careers-focused teaching
Here at UEL, you will have access to a range of opportunities that will boost your career prospects. Whether that's learning from industry professionals actively working in local NHS trusts, developing clinical skills and experience at our in-house Hospital and Primary Care Training Hub, or learning from guest lecturers with years of experience.

Studying for a BSc Counselling degree at UEL was a valuable stepping-stone towards the career that I wanted to pursue. I was able to bring together theory and practice not only in the classroom but also through clinical placements."
