Trainee visits to primary schools
Trainee visits to primary schools
Why this matters
Whatever course you are on, you must be familiar with the primary curriculum as part of your training.
What you need to do
School Direct Salaried
- Complete one day in a primary school
- This will be arranged by your employing school
PGCE and School Direct Training
- Complete a 1–2 day primary school experience
- This takes place in the first few weeks of your course.
- It will be set as an early placement task
Arranging your visit
It is your responsibility to organise your primary school visit.
We recommend you:
- Speak to the teacher in charge of transition early in your placement
- Ask for support in contacting feeder primary schools
- Arrange your visit with one of these schools
Important
- Leave your contact details with the school
- This ensures they can contact you if there are any issues
Next step
- Speak to your placement school in your first few weeks
- Start arranging your primary school visit as soon as possible
