Online interview information for Allied and Public Health

Thank you for your application to the University of East London. As part of the application process, all suitable applicants will be required to attend an online interview in the form of a webinar.

How will the interview take place

The interview will be held online using Microsoft Teams.
You will join the session with other applicants.
The session will begin with an introduction to the subject area.
You will then move into a profession-specific breakout room.
In the breakout room, you will meet a member of the teaching team to discuss your qualifications, your motivation for joining the course and your understanding of careers in the subject area

Before the interview

Download the Microsoft Teams app before your interview.
We will email you a Microsoft Teams interview link approximately two working days before your interview date.
You must accept the invitation to confirm your attendance.

On the day

Use the Microsoft Teams interview link in your email to join the session 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.

If you cannot attend

You can decline the invitation and rebook through the Applicant Portal.
Due to high demand for this course, future interview dates cannot be guaranteed, so please attend your original booking where possible.

What do I need to know before I arrive?

Familiarise yourself with the course page. You will also need to demonstrate a good understanding of the degree subject as a career and be able to justify why you would you make a good candidate on the course.
You will need to have a camera and microphone for the interview. If your laptop or computer does not have this, you can use your smartphone or tablet.
Please also ensure you have a valid form of photo identification, such as a passport or driving licence.
You will need to have completed and submitted the Student Suitability Declaration Form before the interview which you will have received a separate email for.

Can I request an alternate date

There is always high demand for the limited number of places on our course. Therefore, if you request an alternative date, unfortunately there is no guarantee that we will be able to offer you one. We understand that it is not always possible for applicants to attend, so we will do our best to accommodate you if you do need another date. To avoid disappointment, please try to attend the date that you have been offered.

You can request an alternative date through the Applicant Portal – Your login instructions have been sent to you separately.

What should I expect on the day?

10 minutes before the start of the interview please click on the link in the email invitation to join the meeting, to ensure you can test the microphone and camera on your chosen device. If there are any issues you then have enough time to try a different device if needed.
Ensure you have your photo identification on hand. You will not be able to attend the interview if you are unable to show your ID.
You will need to follow the on-screen prompts which will take you to the waiting lobby where the interviewer will invite you into the virtual interview room.
The prompts may include asking if you wish to join via Microsoft Teams or through your web browser. (You may need to try both if one does not work.)
You will be interviewed by a member of the teaching team.
We will ask you a number of questions and you will have an opportunity to ask any questions you have about the course and studying here at UEL.
Questions will focus on your understanding of the subject area as a career and what skills and attributes you have that would make you a good student and able to work in the health professions.

How will I be notified of the outcome

We will notify you of the outcome of your interview through your UCAS Hub account (if applicable) and we will send you an email with our decision.

Due to high demand, we are unable to provide detailed individual feedback. We only accept one application per cycle; you may reapply for the following year if you are unsuccessful on this occasion.
