UTC scholarships scheme
Award Summary
There are three categories of scholarship:
- Standard
- Gold
- Platinum
All LDE UTC students are eligible for the Standard (£1,500) Scholarship.
To be considered for the Gold (£2,000) and Platinum (£2,500) Scholarships, students will need to complete a consent form permitting LDE UTC to share their profile data with UEL.
This will be sent to students once they have firmly accepted their offer from UEL.
Eligibility Summary
- A fee assessed as a Home student (including EU nationals with settled or pre-settled status)
- Progressing directly from London Design and Engineering University Technical College (LDE UTC)
- Applied and firmly accepted their offer at UEL
- Starting a full-time undergraduate degree at UEL in the foundation year or year 1
- Studying at one of our campuses or on distance learning programmes with fees of £9,790 per year
- Starting an undergraduate degree for the first time at UEL in September 2026

UTC Scholarships Scheme
What is the UTC Progression Scholarship Scheme?
The UTC Progression Scholarship Scheme is designed to support students progressing directly from the London Design and Engineering UTC (LDE UTC) to the University of East London. It recognises the hard work and innovation of UTC learners as they continue their academic and professional journey at the university level.
What types of UTC Scholarships are available?
There are three levels of award:
- Standard Scholarship – £1,500 (available to all LDE UTC students)
- Gold Scholarship – £2,000
- Platinum Scholarship – £2,500
Gold and Platinum awards are based on the student profile shared by LDE UTC with UEL (with your consent).
Do I need to apply for the scholarship?
No separate application is required. Once you’ve firmly accepted your offer at UEL, LDE UTC will contact you with a consent form. After you return it, eligible students are automatically assessed for the award.
How will I know if I’ve received the award?
If you qualify, you’ll be contacted directly by UEL with full details of your scholarship level (Standard, Gold or Platinum) and payment arrangements.
