You are invited to UEL AVA Building in our popular Lightwell space, where we will present the workings of the building, the student culture and show you visuals of what we do at UEL that makes us London’s alternative Art School. We will show you the workings of the award-winning students who study within these programmes. After a brief talk, there will be detailed tours of the facilities led by our talented academics and student ambassadors that show you the cutting-edge analogue and digital workshops and spacious studios that you will work in at UEL. There is also a chance to talk with subject-specific academics if you would like to get some advice on your own work, so bring samples of your portfolio with you, and you might walk away with an offer on the day!

Health Advice Centre
Visit UEL’s Health Advice Centre in the Great Hall and explore your wellbeing with our Clinical Exercise Physiology team. Get quick health checks including blood pressure, body composition, lung function, blood glucose, and grip strength, with personalised guidance on what your results mean for you.
You can also chat with the team about simple ways to be more active and discover helpful local and university resources to support your next steps.
The Health Advice Centre works closely with UEL’s Neighbourhood Health Hub, a community-focused initiative dedicated to improving health and wellbeing across East London. By combining research, education, and local engagement, the Hub tackles health inequalities, promotes prevention, and explores innovative ways to support communities. Art in the Dock - Community Open Day
Aromatherapy Candle Making: Participants will learn how to make their own candle using natural soy wax and simple materials. You will be shown how to melt the wax, add fragrance, and pour it into a container to create your own candle to take home. It’s an easy, fun activity for all ages — no experience needed.
Festive Embroidery workshop: Participants will learn the basics of embroidery while personalising their very own tote bag. Using simple stitches, colourful threads, and your own designs or patterns, you'll create a unique, hand-decorated bag that you can take away. This session is suitable for all skill levels, whether you’re a complete beginner or have some embroidery experience.
Marbled Paper Funky Christmas Cards: Participants will learn how to make their own collaged Christmas cards using a mix of colourful papers, textures, and festive materials. You will experiment with layering, cutting, and arranging shapes to design unique cards. You will explore simple collage techniques and combine recycled and decorative elements. Suitable for all ages and abilities. (This activity not available at USS)
