Football FAQs
Who can apply for a football scholarship?
Football scholarships are for players performing at a high competitive level, typically 1st-team standard. You need to be applying to study at UEL and provide evidence of your playing background (for example, a playing CV, highlight video, and a coach reference).
What does the football scholarship include?
Scholars get a package of support that can include financial help, performance kit, access to training and match programmes, and high-performance services such as strength and conditioning, sport science, and injury support.
How do trials and selection work?
After you apply, the coaching team reviews your information and may invite you to a trial. Trials assess technical ability, game understanding, physical level, and attitude. If you’re overseas or can’t attend, you may be considered through match footage first.
What is the weekly training and competition schedule like?
Teams train regularly during the week and compete in BUCS league and cup fixtures, with matches usually on Wednesdays. Pre-season training starts before term to prepare squads for competition.

Being fortunate enough to kick ball whilst I study has been an absolute blessing. Football has kept me going through hard times, and I have been able to achieve great results both off and, on the pitch, due to a supportive team.
