Ms Dorota Watson

Subject Head Fashion & Textiles


Dorota is an experienced Fashion Practitioner, Author and Academic Manager with 25 years spanning both industry and education. Her BA in Fashion Design[ was obtained at Trent Polytechnic now NTU followed by a Masters from Central Saint Martins. Her career has included working in house as a designer for the following companies  Chelsea Girl, River Island, Warehouse, Nasty Clothing, Lectra Systems, Co- Director of Art Bytes and freelance work for suppliers and department stores as well as dance costumes. Previously before working at UEL Dorota managed the fashion department at Ravensbourne, where she was also an Academic Governor. Her career has extensively covered UG and PG provision at a number of institutions including The London College of Fashion, The American Intercontinental University, Thames Valley University, Croydon college and visiting roles at Barnet College, Southgate College and Hounslow Adult Education. She has extensive validation and External Examining experience both nationally and Internationally. Dorota was on the Executive Committee for Graduate Fashion Week for five years, promoting fashion education and industry liaison.

    Current research interests include "Political Influences: the Polish Diaspora Post WWII - Fashion in a Cold Climate".
