Karina Townsend

Specialising in sound design and music technology, Karina designs and delivers bespoke training and support sessions for diverse groups and individuals.

    Karina has worked as a touring musician (sax) with an internationally renowned band (1995-98) and currently as a multi-instrumentalist in a successful electronic cabaret duo. She co-runs the sound design company Robinson-Heath Associates with clients including BBC Scotland, PWC and Bewildering Pictures.

    Following study in music workshop skills at Community Music Ltd (1993-94) she delivered a wide variety of music workshops for varied clients including the Central School of Speech and Drama and Rough Cut Animation. She moved into Further Education in 1998 and became Head of Music at Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College (1999-2001).

    On completion of her PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education she moved into Adult and Continuing Education and coordinated the music technology at London’s City Lit until 2015.

    She joined UEL in 2015.​
