Rebecca Blake

Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Studies

Early Childhood Studies Research Group, University of East London

I have been teaching at University East London for two years and I am currently a module leader for Issues and Controversies which is a level five module. During my second academic year in Higher Education part of my role has been to deliver weekly lectures and seminars for a range of undergraduate courses on the Early Childhood Studies Programme. I am also a dissertation supervisor for level six students. I am a personal tutor to a range of students.

I have a varied background in education having worked across a range of sectors. I originally trained as a History Secondary School Teacher and then moved into the primary sector, where I have taught across the different Key Stages. My recent work experience involved working in Further Education where I delivered on a range of undergraduate and teacher training courses and I have spent the last two years teaching in Higher Education on the Early Childhood Studies Programme. My dissertation research for my Masters in Psychology of Education involved visiting a range of pre-schools in Somerset. I conducted a series of interviews with pre-school staff to try to assess their views on the impact of pre-school education on children’s development.
