Rugby's Win Over Arts
On Wednesday 1st February UEL men’s rugby took to the pitch with their first home game of 2017 on Big Blue Wednesday; an important match for them. The first 3 points of the match were awarded to Arts after a penalty kick, however UEL remained strong and worked together as a team to score the first try of the match. The try was scored by Mike Lawrence 35 minutes into the first half, with a great kick to secure the conversion. The half time score stood at 7-3. UEL began the second half with good possession, and a second try was scored by Idriss Kelali from UEL, however the conversion was unsuccessful. This left the score at 12-3. UEL continued to work together, and a third try came from LJ, which was successfully converted. With great ball handling and passing, LJ went on to score a further try 70 minutes into the game, which was also successfully converted. The last 3 points of the match were given to Arts after a penalty.
The final score was 26-6, giving UEL a bonus point win. The man of the match went to Mustafa Rafique for his teamwork and commitment to the game. Well done
to the UEL Men’s Rugby team for a great win in preparation for their cup game next Wednesday.
