Netball 1st Team in Loss To Canterbury

Netball 1st Team in Loss To Canterbury

University Of East London’s netball first team lost 47-14 to Canterbury Christ Church on Wednesday, in their third match of the season.

UEL were looking to bounce back from their 38-30 defeat to University of Kent last week, but they went three behind early due to SG quick start. They pulled one back but soon it was 5-1. UEL enjoyed a couple of promising spells after this, but at the end of the first quarter Canterbury led 10-4

Canterbury grew in dominance in the second quarter, and despite some hard work by UEL, their lead grew to 22-7 by the halfway mark.

UEL remained in high spirits however, and continued to put in a lot of work to deny Canterbury, but Canterbury’s strength became too much for them as they stretched their lead to 28-9 soon after the break.

At the end of the third quarter UEL trailed 37-11, but they weren’t disheartened, and continued to put up a fight for the final quarter. This meant that they pulled a couple of goals back, but Canterbury were ultimately too strong, and made it 47-14 by full time.

Despite the somewhat heavy loss, it was a gallant effort by the girls who will be looking to improve on this performance next time out.
