Goal extravaganza for UEL Women's Football

Women's Football Team 2016-17

Goal extravaganza for UEL Women's Football

In their first game of the season UEL’s women faced the University College London, boasting a very strong cohort with numerous members of the squad proudly representing clubs and countries at high levels within the game.

Within minutes it was clear that UEL were comfortably going to run away with this one. However, most professionally, the women continued to pressure their struggling opposition as a flurry of early goals saw the game settling comfortably with the UEL women in firm control.

After a quarter of an hour the game was already out of sight for UCL with the UEL team taking a quick 4-0 lead - Rinsola Babajide netting an early hat-trick, making light work of the scoring situations she was finding herself in with some great skill on the ball.

The first half continued in the same fashion, with no let-up from the East London side, proving just how professional they were staying, regardless of the situation. A special mention must go to Georgie Best, who scored the goal of the game just before half-time with her volleyed effort, which flew in off the post after she struck with conviction from the edge of the box.

The half-time score of 12-0 could have been several goals higher, if not for some dubious offside decisions which some of the players were not happy with.

It was easy to tell, as the second half got underway, that UEL were going to play in exactly the same manner. Otesha Charles and Ellie Paris, the two forwards playing alongside Babajide, ended the game having both contributed goals of top quality. Several of the UEL Women from the midfield and defence also found themselves venturing forwards to end up on the score sheet themselves.

A resounding 24-0 victory for UEL’s women, and long may this type of form continue in to the coming season.
