Women's Football 1st dominate in first game

UEL 6-1 Canterbury CC

It was a terrific start to the season for the Women's Football 1st team as the team dominated against Canterbury Christchurch University from the first whistle, leading to an emphatic 6-1 home win.

The team was led by Millwall Lionesses coach Dan Milnar for the first time and it promises to be a great year ahead based on the team's performance.

The team did not take long to get going with UEL's first ever women's football scholar, Lilli Victoria Maple, opening the scoring after 5 minutes in the match with a brilliant strike that caught the opposition goalkeeper completely off-guard.

Otesha Charles joined in on the act with a goal 5 minutes later to make it 2-0 to the hosts. This was Charles' first goal of the day which she finished with an impressive hat-trick.

UEL kept control of the game throughout the rest of the half and added 3 more goals coming from Charles and Maple again with Ellie Paris also joining the action with a cracking goal from 18 yards out.

The second half was again a comfortable affair with UEL pretty much seeing the game out. The visitors were never really in it but did manage to score a consolation goal. The victory was rounded off with another Charles goal that completed her hat-trick and sealed a very dominant performance.

Things are looking very promising going into the rest of the year with the next test on Wednesday, 21 October against City University.
