Our judo club
Judo is a form of self-defence which includes powerful throws, arm locks and ground fighting. Originating in Japan, judo is great exercise and excellent for developing stamina, power and flexibility.Our sessions are open to all, irrespective of size, weight, gender or grade. The Club is coached by Level 3 coach, Darren Hawney, who has experience working with the GB Olympic team and coaches.
The Judo Club continues to build as we work towards becoming one of the largest and most successful clubs at UEL.
The Judo Club train at SportsDock, located at our Docklands campus. Our large training venue can comfortably hold up to 20 people per Judo session.
Training takes place every Thursday at 7:30-9pm at SportsDock.
Facilities & Training
Judo can be a sport for life, and anyone can benefit from judo regardless of your age or physical athleticism. The benefits of practising this martial art goes far beyond knowing how to protect yourself; it gives you the opportunity to work on your life skills in a fun and active way.
Judo teaches you the value of hard work - the more time and effort you put in, the easier it becomes. You will able to see your development from session to session. It also develops both anaerobic and aerobic systems, giving you excellent cardio endurance.
