Our dance club

UEL's Dance Club has been running for four years. It’s a popular club with a fantastic atmosphere and is always encouraging those wanting to dance. The club competed for the first time in 2016 at the National University Dance competition and placing first, The Wednesday weekly sessions are run by a different teacher each week, providing members the opportunity to learn different styles of dance and how they can be linked together.

The Dance Club encourages members to socialise and if you wish to practice routines and moves learnt in the weekly class, members can book the studios in SportsDock and at USS with other members. The club encourages members to attend performances or be part of other performances outside of the UEL club, to build confidence.

Training takes place every Wednesday from 2pm – 5pm in the Studio at SportsDock, which is located on the Docklands Campus.

    Facilities and Training

The Dance Club train every Wednesday afternoon at 2pm in a studio in UEL SportsDock, located on Docklands campus. The studio at UEL SportsDock is fully air conditioned with spring wooden flooring and a fantastic sound system to help keep a comfortable atmosphere that is perfect for learning different styles of dance.

There are great benefits to partaking in dance classes, ranging from increasing your amount of daily exercise to making new friends with shared interests. Dance also offers an activity for people who may not consider themselves as ‘sporty’.

The benefit of dance provides members to participate in an art form, which is routed in technique, giving the opportunity for a creative outlet. The confidence gained through achievements in dance helps to build social skills, increase self-esteem and the ability to communicate well in a group. These skills once built up through participating in dance can lead to a variety of career routes.
