Our badminton club
The Badminton Club is open to players who are passionate about badminton and those looking to improve their health. You can play either individually or as part of a team, and create lasting friendships on and off the field.
Badminton will develop your team work skills, increase your fitness levels, and improve your aerobic stamina, agility, speed and precision.
We cater for both men’s and women’s badminton teams, with the chance to represent UEL in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues and Cup on Wednesday afternoons. This is a great opportunity to represent your university and feel part of something special with UEL Sports.
Even if you’re not a player but have a passion for the game and want to get involved, the Badminton Club is always looking for people to officiate, blog, write match reports and act as committee members.
The Badminton Club have an experienced and highly dedicated badminton coach who attends all training sessions and fixtures. He has vast university experience working with Imperial University and King’s College London, and has coached beginners to elite players.
Training takes place every Monday at 6:00-8:00pm at SportsDock, which is located on the Docklands Campus.
The badminton team plays at UEL’s SportsDock facility, across 20 courts.
Badminton can be an energetic or light workout, depending on your playing style. You’ll get to exercise your entire body through leaps, lunges, twists, turns and stretches.
You will improve your balance and co-ordination, and boost upper body strength, core stability and stamina.
UEL offers fantastic scholarships for you to choose from.
Join our sports scholars at UEL; athletes who are dedicated to balancing their studies and sporting ambitions at the most aspiring and improved University in the UK for sport.
You too can join the ranks of our current sports scholars, which include Olympians and senior internationals who represent UEL at national and international university competitions..
I love being part of the UEL Badminton Club. Getting to represent UEL every week in BUCS and train in UEL SportsDock, has made my time in University!Ruth Mwandumba , Women's Badminton 1st Captain
