The MA in English Language Teaching is aimed at practicing teachers and graduates with relevant teaching experience as it has a practical focus. This is reflected in the way in which different modules and topics relate to the professional experiences of participants thus linking theory and practice to develop both teachers’ reflective practice and expertise in English Language Teaching.

Facilities and resources

UEL provides a wide range of modern facilities to enable you to study and learn effectively. On the Stratford and Docklands sites we have excellent library services and helpful supportive librarians. Students are encouraged to network with each other and both sites provide ample opportunity and spaces for this to be achieved. UEL have a range of eating places providing for different tastes which staff and students share together. There is a dedicated ‘one stop’ information and guidance service at each campus – The Hub – offering wide support and advice, coupled with a dedicated proactive study skills team who work with students to nurture their academic skills.

What we're researching

At Cass School of Education and Communities we have developed an expertise on language education, in particular, teaching and learning in multicultural contexts. Dr Mario Moya, Programme Leader for the MA English Language Teaching, focuses his research on second language acquisition and the role of language learning strategies in second/additional languages. He is a Consultant for the British Council and works in cooperation with Universities worldwide to improve teacher and learning in English-medium instruction environments. The MA in English Language Teaching is linked to the Higher Education and the Teacher Education Research Groups.
