A welcome from the Dean of Arts and Digital Industries
The School of Arts and Digital Industries at the University of East London is a forward-thinking School in the thriving artistic, cultural hotbed of east London. Our vision is to be an internationally recognised leader in socially engaged and multidisciplinary arts. We aim to be at the heart of the cultural life of our local communities and of London itself: providing some of the key talent, skills and ideas that will help shape the future of the UK’s creative economy.
The School’s breadth of arts, fashion, media, performance and humanities subject areas are grounded in world-class research, and creative excellence, and framed by extensive community and industry collaboration. Our academic staff create a diverse and innovative learning environment that will not only challenge you, but also expose you to a rich mix of culture and knowledge. Programmes are taught in purpose-built facilities to ensure you have a full suite of resources available to you throughout your study.
We have excellent engagement with industry and cultural and community organisations across London and beyond. We will provide students with the high-level specialisms and expertise combined with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines, challenge current practice and develop new solutions that help students secure great jobs with relevant and outstanding employers.
Through our programmes and partnerships our mission will be to produce the next generation of creative professionals whose cultural, social and critical skills, knowledge and expertise will be focused on addressing the challenges and opportunities of our times.

London

Study at UEL and you’ll be living and learning in one of the world’s greatest cities. It’s a place that’s racing into the future but anchored in its past, with historic buildings and monuments and world-renowned museums and galleries around every corner.
It’s home to iconic sporting venues such as Wimbledon, the Olympic Park, Lord’s Cricket Ground and six Premier League football teams. It's a centre of commerce, with some of the world's most important financial hubs in the City of London and at Canary Wharf.
And it’s a city of rich cultural and entertainment choices, with acclaimed theatres and music venues, world-famous shopping districts and a bewildering choice of restaurants and cafés to suit every taste and pocket. It’s a city that, quite simply, has it all.

Research Culture and Community
The School of ADI hosts a number of internationally recognised research centres and resources which facilitate ground-breaking research activity.
Each centre invites leading researchers and practitioners from the UK’s creative and cultural sector to participate in a lively programme of seminars, lectures, workshops, events, residencies and symposia.
Postgraduate students are encouraged to engage with these innovative programmes and be proactive in convening their own events and conferences. These opportunities enable students to acquire valuable knowledge and professional experience and ensure the research and practises generated by UEL continue to make a strong and positive contribution to culture and society.
