Using AutoCAD vba to program cellular automata in 2 ½ D to form complex curved surfaces and space frames. The work of Stefan Krakhofer and Renee Puusepp (2004-5). The use of the CA in this way is a very neat way of developing complex geometry without resorting to complex NURBS approximations and difficult maths!

Also some visibility graph analysis by Renee on 2 ½ D surfaces for checking what’s visible in hilly terrains. The algorithm takes as input a simple dxf file of labelled contours. This work was developed under the Aedas mentoring scheme.
